Victoria, Texas – The Victoria Fine Arts Association and The Victoria Main Street Program will be coordinating the painting of a Bicentennial Themed crosswalk on the corner of Juan Linn and Main Street across from City Hall by a local artist on Saturday, April 6th from 10:00am to 12:00pm in celebration of the City of Victoria’s 200th anniversary. We will enjoy live music from Ashley and Jaron Post while the artist demonstrates for the attendees.

“This will be the 10th painted crosswalk art in downtown Victoria,” said Shannon Longoria, Victoria Fine Arts Association President. “Art education is one of the ways VFAA amplifies the arts in Victoria. “This
project combines artistry with art education through the special demonstration and discussion of the crosswalk painting process.” “Mayor
Crocker, local, state, and federal elected officials, along with the Victoria community will join us at this ceremonious event.”

Amy Mundy, VFAA board member and Crosswalk Committee Chair said, “We are appreciative for the community-minded individuals that sponsored this project, the Victoria Bach Festival’s Pat and Bill Blanchard, Doris and Gary Childress, Cora Jo and Michael Hummel, and Phyllis and Lane Keller. We invite the public to venture downtown on Saturday, April 6th to watch the artist create the latest installment in our Crosswalk Art project in downtown Victoria, and we look forward to seeing the completed crosswalk painting.”

“We are excited to continue this partnership with a longstanding organization to continue implementing public art in our downtown area. Through projects like this, we continue to build on the overall aesthetics and charm making this a desired destination for both locals and visitors,” said Kate Garcia, Main Street Manager.

The Victoria Fine Arts Association has partnered with community sponsors to paint ten crosswalks in Downtown Victoria. If you would like to learn more about Victoria Fine Arts Association and our mission to inspire artistry in Victoria, visit
